Well as I’m typing this I haven’t heard from everybody yet.  But it’s pretty safe to say yesterday might go down as one of the greatest marlin fishing days in history.  There was quite a few boats that broke the 20 mark yesterday.  That’s right that would be 20+ billfish caught and released from individual boats.  Words like "epic" and "unreal" are being used on a daily basis, by anglers and captains, to describe the marlin fishing right now.  There are littlerly thousands of marlin in packs gorging themselves on baitballs just off the coast.  Seeing a pack of lit up white marlin come charging up behind the boat is one of the most exciting things anyone can witness in nature.  The majority of anglers have never caught a marlin in their lives and we’ve got anglers catching 13 by themselves on a single trip.  Really incredible and exciting right now.  With the billfish congregated in a pretty safe area and good weather on the horizon, we’ve all got our fingers crossed that they will be here as long as possible.

Oh did I mention there are massive schools of Tuna are here now too?  The two fisheries are intermingling especially where the tuna are.  More and more billfish are showing up mixed in the Tuna catches.  Sailfish in particular.  Today at least two of our boats targetted tuna and did really well on blackfins and yellowfin.  One boat had some dolphin mixed in that were in the 30 pound range and two sailfish releases.  The other boat had two sailfish also. So far today it looks like today was more of the same for the marlin catches. I love it when a captain calls in and tells me, "we only got 10 today!"  One boat did hit the 22 mark today and we’ll be seeing more of that to come.  Other than the fact the marlin had moved a little from yesterday things look great for the near future.  Every single offshore boat in our marina is booked for tomorrow and we’ve got a ton of guests here on the private side fishing also.  I guy just asked me if there was a tournament going on here this weekend, given the atmosphere around the marina.  Too funny!

Nearshore the guys did outstanding this morning catching big numbers of Bluefish and some Spanish Mackerel.  Cobia have been absent ever since the wind shifted northeast but hopefully there will still be some caught before the fall fishing goes into full swing.  The fall fishing is outstanding for the nearshore fleet, and it will be really exciting to see their catches over the next few weeks.  The full day trips, in particular, can catch such a wide variety of fish and you never know what will be on the docks.

Our inlet guide had a really good trip this morning catching a Pam slam that included Speckled Trout, Flounder, and puppy Drum.  This is the month for giant trout and some of the Trout being caught lately are really impressive.

I don’t use the word "epic" lightly in refrence to fishing.  Trust me you want to be standing in front of the booking desk, grinning ear to ear, filling out citations right now.  Bookings are getting tight on both islands at the moment but we will get you fishing!  Theres nothing worse than, "man you should’ve been here yesterday!"  Call us at 1-800-367-4728 or visit us at staging.pcdev.flywheelsites.com and we’ll take care of the rest!  Have a great and safe weekend everyone!
