Wow!  The offshore guys really did well today.  Yesterday was a pretty good indicator that things would be really good today.  Despite the rain and thunderstorms everyone did really well offshore on Yellowfin Tuna yesterday.  But today every boat was back at the docks by lunch time with limits of really nice tuna.  I saw a fish cleaning ticket from one boat that was almost 700 pounds of tuna on it.  The limit is Three Tuna per person so it’s pretty easy to get an idea of the quality of fish being caught offshore.  There were a few Dolphin mixed in with the Yellowfin catches. However, the story of the day was definately hatches on fishboxes that wouldn’t shut due to piles of large Tuna.  The wind is supposed to pick up towards weeks end but I expect the Yellowfin catches to continue like this for a little while.  Before long the Big eye Tuna will be here in good numbers mixed in with the Yellowfin catches.

The Nearshore fleet continued to catch Cobia today.  The numbers weren’t what they have been.  That’s not due to a lack of Cobia.  It’s because today was pretty choppy out there which made it really hard to sight fish for them.  But they definately did well today despite the conditions. There was one in the 70 pound class brought in today.  One of our inshore inshore customers had two small children that were on their first real fishing trip.  They got to catch alot of really nice Sea Mullet and other assorted bottom fish.  The Captain was able to put them right on top of a large pod of Bottlenose Dolphin. It’s always a pleasure to see the wide eyed gaze of children when they get an opportunity to experience ocean life for the first time.

Speckled Trout catches are still outstanding.  It seems like we can’t hardly keep Gulp lures on the shelf as a result. But thankfully we have a good selection.  The end of this week is going to be really busy with almost the entire fleet heading out on some days.  We are hoping the front coming through on Friday evening doesnt amount to much keeping everyone fishing through the weekend.  We still have charters available and makeups call us at 1-800-367-4728 or visit us at staging.pcdev.flywheelsites.com
