The boats had good catches again today. Nearshore boats saw Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish and brought in amberjacks and one nice Cobia. The offshore fleet all had their limit of dolphin despite heading in early due to a passing front. A yellowfin tuna was caught as well as a White Marlin caught and released by Hunter Bowers of Okatie SC earning him a citation. The Double B, a private boat running out of Pirate’s Cove Marina won the 53rd Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City NC last Saturday when no hook-ups took place Saturday during the final six hours of fishing. Kenny Sexton, Manteo, captain of the Double B, grabbed the lead for good Monday afternoon when he showed up at the Big Rock scales with a 652.8-pound blue marlin reeled in by Travis Stephenson of Angier. Sexton and crew receive $524,375 for the victory. Congratulations to the Crew and Anglers of the Double B !
