Well everyone here had their breath held to await the results of fishing trips after Andrea came through.  It looks like things have actually improved after the storm.  Today was unbelievable!  Almost every fish ticket was over 700 pounds!  Quite a few of the boats were in early with limits.  For about the last two weeks it’s been Yellowfin Tuna catches hitting the docks in big numbers.  But it would appear that the storm moving up the coast has accelarated the majority of Palegic species to show up off our coast now.  Today the catches were really spectacular with several limits of tuna along with good numbers of dolphin.  Most of the Dolphin were gaffer size fish.  It had been at least two weeks since we had really seen more than one Billfish hookup offshore.  Today several Sailfish along with Blue and White Marlin were caught and realeased.  A Mako shark in the 130 pound range was caught today as well. They say that luck is when preperation meets opportunity.  It would seem that the extra prep time, the Captain’s and their mate’s got because of the storm, is really paying off now that Mother Nature is presenting an opportunity!

The Nearshore fleet did well today too.  A good amount of Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish were caught.  We saw a slight drop in the Sea temperature along the coast and the truly warm 73+ degree water is a little further south than it had been.  Some Cobia were spotted to the south of the inlet today and a handful were landed today.  I expect they will continue to be caught in better numbers as the week progresses.  Overall things are extremely good and today’s catches were quite a sight.  Trips are really booking fast, because of the great fishing, but we do have quite a few boats available for the coming week.  There are also some make ups available.  Call us at 1-800-367-4728 or visit us at staging.pcdev.flywheelsites.com to book your fishing trip.
