Wow what a beautiful day here in the outer banks!  The conditions were ideal to do just about anything you want.  As I’m typing this I’m staring out the window looking at one of the longest lines of fishing yachts I’ve seen.  Between myself and them there’s a line of smiling faces from the eager wives and families enjoying the great food and drinks from the restaraunt at the tiki hut.  It’s October and you truly couldn’t be in a better place then fishing with us today!  There were 27 offshore charter trips and the fishing was fantastic.  Yesterday the fish cleaners worked overtime cleaning almost 3000 pounds of dolphin.  Today the dolphin fishing continued to be world class with limits on most of the boats.  We had the added pleasure of some good yellowfin catches today as well.  The yellowfin catches have increased daily as conditions for them improve daily.  Today the boats that were able to get right on top of the tuna caught around a dozen yellowfin and there were some scattered blackfin to put some icing on the cake.  I just helped a gentleman fill out a citation for a huge 22 pound blackfin!  Blackfin are smaller cousins to the yellowfin and rarely exceed 12 to 15 pounds but are just as delicious table fare.  I’ve got some boats reporting a few wahoo mixed in the catches along with at least 6 white marlin released.

Nearshore continued to produce mackerel and blues.  The water is almost 80 degrees right on the beach and if your not fishing with us then you should be swimming!  The nearshore guys have a had half day trips mostly and haven’t had the oppurtunity to target the dolphin, Kings, and amberjack that are a little further out but are sure making the most of those half days.  Our inlet guide had a mixed day and despite catching some trout lost some trophy sized fish right at the boat.  Those trips are a blast for our anglers because you start the day catching an assortment of smaller bottom fish then finish the day off using those fish to catch the big boys.

If your sitting out of town reading this thinking about how much fun you had at Pirate’s Cove this summer,  remember some of the best fishing is still ahead of us and the weather is beautiful!  Obviously there’s alot of folks that have figured out that this is paradise right now and ground zero for offshore fishing.  Having said that, we most likely will be fully booked going into next weekend so call us asap to get on board or let us match you up with some other anglers on a make up.. 1-800-367-4728 or visit us at staging.pcdev.flywheelsites.com to book your trip!

I couldn’t end this report with out giving a thanks to our hard working dock crews and fish cleaners.  We’ve got a huge number of our buddies from the fishing center fishing with us due to the government shutdown. This week I’ve had a million compliments from those captains and mates on how hard all of them have been working to keep them fueled and iced for the next days adventure.  Our guys have become accustomed to how smoothly everything comes together here making it the world class marina it is.  I’m sure everyone can’t wait to get back to their port of call but it’s been a fun week seeing how everyone’s hard work made all this possible!  It feels like we’re having a second big game tournament at the marina right now and it’s a lot of fun being here right now for everyone! Have a great evening everyone and take care!
