It would be an understatement to say there are a lot of boats in the marina.  We’ve had an influx of additional guests in the past day leading to some busy dock crews this evening.  The offshore fishing was good today despite it being distinctly different.  The warm water holding Tuna is still holding pretty far to the south of us until the wind shifts.  Most of the fleet made the run down there and were able to pick off a few Yellowfin but no big tuna numbers today.  The story of the day was Dolphin.  There’s a yellow brick road of Gaffer sized dolphin extending the length of the entire charter fleet as we speak.  They are all quality sized fish with many exceeding the citation minimum.  A few wahoo were landed too with a few pushing the 40 mark.  I only know of one boat that went looking for marlin and I’m not sure how he did.  Although there were at least two whites caught and released by those meat fishing.  I did hear he was fighting a blue one for a while earlier in the day.  I’ll have to save that for tomorrow’s report.

Nearshore was an outstanding day with a good variety of species caught.  The bluefish bite continues to be really good along with some nice spanish mackerel mixed in.  Quite a few boats went after Tilefish today and came back with limits of good sized Tiles.    Some Dolphin were seen nearshore along with a few packs of Cobia but none were landed.  We had a really nice 79 pound cobia caught a nearshore charter yesterday and it would be nice to see some more like that.
